Capacity Boost May Be in Store for Indonesian Steel Complex
11/08/2016 - Indonesia’s Krakatau Steel and South Korea’s POSCO are thinking about expanding their steelmaking assets in the Indonesian province of Banten, possibly adding 3 million to 4 million tons of capacity, reports the The Jakarta Post.
According to the Post, the companies are considering the expansion on forecasts that Indonesian steel demand will nearly double by 2025. About half of the country’s current demand is met through imports, the newspaper said.
