Canadian Tribunal Initiates Expiry Review of Hot Rolled Plate Imports
04/24/2008 - The Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiates an expiry review of its 2004 finding on the dumping of hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate from the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Romania.
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has initiated an expiry review of its January 9, 2004 finding on the dumping of hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate from the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Romania.
The Canada Border Services Agency will announce its determination on Aug. 21, 2008, whether there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping. In the event of a positive determination, the Tribunal will determine, on January 8, 2009, whether the continued or resumed dumping is likely to result in injury or market retardation.
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
Any interested person, association or government that wishes to participate in the Tribunal's expiry review may do so by filing a Notice of Participation.
