Canadian Auto Workers Local Ratifies Contract with Lakeside Steel
11/04/2011 - Members of the Canadian Auto Workers, Local 523, the union representing employees at the Welland, Ont., facilities of Lakeside Steel Corp. have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.
Members of the Canadian Auto Workers, Local 523, the union representing employees at the Welland, Ont., facilities of Lakeside Steel Corp. have ratified a new collective agreement.
The new agreement covers approximately 350 employees for a three-year term ending October 31, 2014. Lakeside Steel believes that the new agreement provides good benefits for both the Canadian Auto Workers Local Union and Lakeside Steel.
"We are very pleased to have a new collective bargaining agreement in place with our Welland work force who continue to be one of the most highly skilled and committed in the industry,” stated Ron Bedard, President and Chief Operating Officer of Lakeside.
