Canadian Agency Initiates Expiry Review of Duties on Structural Tubing
04/12/2013 - The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has initiated a five-year expiry review of its order made in 2008 concerning the dumping of structural steel tubing imports from Korea, South Africa and Turkey.
On 10 April 2013, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its order made on 22 December 2008, in Expiry Review No. RR-2008-001, concerning the dumping of structural tubing from the Republic of Korea, the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Turkey.
On 8 August 2013, the Canada Border Services Agency will determine if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping. In the event of a positive determination, the Tribunal will determine, on 20 December 2013, whether the continued or resumed dumping is likely to result in injury or retardation.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
Any interested person, association or government that wishes to participate in the Tribunal's expiry review may do so by filing a Notice of Participation.
