Can-Eng Furnaces to Supply Wide Plate Q&T Line to SAIL

The equipment will be installed at the special plate facility of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Orissa, India.  The roller hearth furnace technology will incorporate a custom designed restrained roller spray quench that will accommodate plates from 6 mm to 100 mm in thickness, and widths from 1200 mm to 3300 mm wide in a variety of HSLA and proprietary alloys.  The complete turn-key installation includes CAN-ENG’s level II automation system, predictive modeling software based on continuous cooling transformation (CCT) curves, and numerous other process enhancements designed into the equipment.  The overall line layout covers a footprint of 6 m wide by 147 m long, and includes a roller hearth load table, indirect fired roller hearth austenitize furnace, restrained roller spray quench, transfer tables, roller hearth temper furnace, and unload tables c/w cooling system and water filtration circuit.

A fall 2014 start-up is planned.  The overall functionality and product application is based on similar reference technology CAN-ENG installed in the U.S. in the past seven years.
