Can-Eng Furnaces to Supply Wide Plate Q&T Line to SAIL
02/14/2014 - Can-Eng Furnaces International Limited has been contracted to supply a wide plate quench and temper line for the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
The equipment will be installed at the special plate facility of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Orissa, India. The roller hearth furnace technology will incorporate a custom designed restrained roller spray quench that will accommodate plates from 6 mm to 100 mm in thickness, and widths from 1200 mm to 3300 mm wide in a variety of HSLA and proprietary alloys. The complete turn-key installation includes CAN-ENG’s level II automation system, predictive modeling software based on continuous cooling transformation (CCT) curves, and numerous other process enhancements designed into the equipment. The overall line layout covers a footprint of 6 m wide by 147 m long, and includes a roller hearth load table, indirect fired roller hearth austenitize furnace, restrained roller spray quench, transfer tables, roller hearth temper furnace, and unload tables c/w cooling system and water filtration circuit.
A fall 2014 start-up is planned. The overall functionality and product application is based on similar reference technology CAN-ENG installed in the U.S. in the past seven years.
