California Steel Industries Names New Chairman of the Board
09/11/2012 - Mr. Aristides Corbellini of Vale, S.A. has been named Chairman of the Board for California Steel Industries, Inc. (CSI), after Mr. Vicente Wright’s decision to leave the position to pursue new challenges.
Mr. Aristides Corbellini of Vale, S.A. has been named Chairman of the Board for California Steel Industries, Inc. (CSI), after Mr. Vicente Wright’s decision to leave the position to pursue new challenges.
Mr. Corbellini, who has been a member of the Board of Directors for CSI since 2008, serves in his primary position as Global Steel Director at Vale, a 50% shareholder of CSI along with JFE Steel Corporation of Japan. He previously served as the President and CEO of ThyssenKrupp CSA Siderurgica do Atlantico since its incorporation in September 2004 to 2008, and he is currently Vice-Chairman of the Board of the same. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem, a joint venture of Vale with Dongkuk Steel and Posco of Korea.
Mr. Wright was named Chairman of the Board effective 1 August 2012, after previously serving as President and CEO at CSI since July 2008. Over the years, Mr. Wright held a number of executive and managerial positions with Vale in Brazil, Japan and the United States.
The CEO and Chairman positions at CSI historically have rotated between the two shareholder companies. Mr. Toshiyuki ("Ted") Tamai, was named President and CEO of CSI effective 1 August 2012.
California Steel Industries, Inc., located near Fontana, Calif., is the leading producer of flat rolled steel products in the western United States (the 11 states located west of the Rocky Mountains) based on tonnage billed, with a broad range of products, including hot rolled, cold rolled, and galvanized sheet and electric resistant welded pipe. CSI has nearly 1,000 employees.
