British Steel Will Continue Supplying Network Rail in Renewed Contract
05/12/2022 - British Steel has extended their contract with Network Rail until March 2024. By the time the contract concludes, British Steel’s Scunthorpe headquarters will have supplied more than 1 million tons of rail in a decade to Network Rail.
According to a company press release, British Steel also plans to build a “multi-million-pound new storage facility for long length rails” and a dedicated service facility for maintenance to Network Rail’s rail delivery trains. Work will begin soon on the new service and storage facilities and will be built at the Scunthope headquarters.
“We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Network Rail and delighted to have extended our contract with them,” said Craig Harvey, British Steel’s commercial director for rail. “This agreement is testament to the high-quality products and services our people deliver, and we look forward to continuing our work with Network Rail to ensure millions of passengers and freight operators enjoy safe, enjoyable and timely journeys.”
