Brazilian Specialty Steelmaker Fires Up New EAF
02/23/2016 - Brazil’s Villares Metals has signed the final acceptance certificate for a 25-ton electric arc furnace at its mill in Sumare, Sao Paulo, according to the vendor on the project.
The vendor, Danieli Centro Met, said the new EAF replaces a furnace that had been operating since 1957. The mill makes tool and valve steels, stainless steel and specialty alloys.
Danieli said the furnace was ordered in October 2014. Approximately 14 months later, the furnace was installed and had its first successful heat. The acceptance certificate was awarded on 20 January, two months ahead of schedule, Danieli said.
The company is part of voestalpine Group's special steel division.
