Boulder Imaging Engages with Rolled Steel Manufacturers for Web Inspection
03/18/2014 - Boulder Imaging has entered into agreements with multiple rolled steel manufacturers to redefine and transform their coatings inspection technology.
The customers’ products include both coated galvanized and stainless steel. Engineering trials for incorporating inspection hardware and software will begin at three separate facilities in Mexico and the United States in the next few months.
“With the advent of increasingly expensive and sophisticated finishes, rolled steel is an industry where quality is becoming more critical every day,” said Carlos Jorquera, Boulder Imaging CEO and founder. “Surprisingly, the industry remains highly reliant upon the human eye for inspection.”
“Boulder Imaging’s inspection technology demonstrates that speed and accuracy can coexist in rolled steel inspection from stainless to coated or uncoated. Our clients will be able to conduct 100 percent inspection down to 26 microns with traceable results. Every shipment can be made with full confidence that rolls or blanks will meet customer acceptance criteria,” he said.
Jorquera added that accurate, fast and objective inspection will dramatically elevate quality assurance and customer satisfaction and uniquely position these manufacturers in the industry.
Boulder Imaging is implementing its SCX Series in-line surface inspection system for coated steel and its SX Series for polished, stainless steel. Processing will be configured for one and two-sided inspection of master coils, slit strips and cut-to-length blanks. Both systems also support aluminum and other rolled metals and transform the inspection process through the combination of technology, performance, data analytics and support.
Boulder Imaging provides vision inspection solutions for precision applications and has been successfully providing clients with custom R&D-intensive solutions for challenging inspection requirements since 1995. Our proprietary technology has provided fast, reliable, flexible, and accurate machine vision and high-performance digital video recording systems for hundreds of customers, including Fortune 500 companies, military and government organizations. For the past 18 years, our solutions have enabled customers to optimize product quality, drive down manufacturing costs, and measurably improve efficiency.
