BlueScope Steel has appointed Pat Finan as Executive General Manager of the company's new Global Building and Construction Markets (GBCM) business development group, effective November 1.
There are no changes to current business reporting segments, according to BlueScope.
Finan (BSc Civil Engineering) joined BlueScope in 2004 and is currently President BlueScope Buildings North America. He has worked with multinational companies in providing innovative building solutions in multi-site construction projects.
BlueScope Managing Director and CEO Paul O'Malley said, "Mr. Finan will assist country Presidents to rapidly improve sales in the growing building and construction markets. His immediate focus will be to coordinate global sales, and to identify and pursue opportunities in new markets. He will relocate to Melbourne and lead the business from BlueScope's head office.
"The building and construction sector accounts for more than 70% of our total steel sales and this will grow as urbanization and industrialization continue in high-growth emerging economies," O'Malley said.
"Globally, there is rising demand for more efficient design and construction solutions, improved energy efficiency, and higher density structures. BlueScope has steel products and solutions to meet all these challenges and Mr. Finan's new business development group will seek out and develop these new opportunities.
"Mr. Finan's key task is to promote globally BlueScope's premium sustainable steel products and solutions and our world class pre-engineered buildings capability," O'Malley added.
O'Malley also announced that Dan Kumm, currently President BlueScope Construction North America, will succeed Finan as President BlueScope Buildings North America.
