BlueScope Restarts Sinter Plant at Port Kembla Steel Works
10/17/2014 - After a fire, BlueScope has restarted the sinter plant at its Port Kembla Steel Works after obtaining necessary approvals from the NSW EPA.
This will enable the production of iron and steel at the steel works to continue without interruption.
The sinter plant will be operating under a temporary reconfiguration until the waste gas cleaning plant can be recommissioned, which is likely to take around 6–8 weeks.
The company will monitor emissions and maintain close consultation with the EPA and the community.
