BlueScope Names New North American CEO
12/09/2022 - BlueScope Steel has tapped its chief human resources officer to lead its North American operations and is making other changes to its executive leadership team, the company has announced.
In a statement, BlueScope said Kristie Keast will take over as chief executive North America, succeeding Pat Finan, who is retiring in February.
“Pat is one of a kind. He’s one of the most respected steel industry executives in the U.S. and has played a significant role in BlueScope’s growth and success (in the U.S.) – not least, the recent delivery of the AU$1 billion expansion of the North Star mini-mill. Pat leaves us in a tremendous position for the future,” said BlueScope managing director and chief executive Mark Vassella.
Keast has served as BlueScope’s chief people officer since 2019, and in 2021 accepted additional responsibility for North American development, overseeing the company’s expansion opportunities here.
Peta Renkin, who serves as general manager building components in the company’s Australian steel products unit, will take over Keast’s responsibilities as chief people officer.
Meanwhile in Australia, chief financial officer Tania Archibald will take over as chief executive Australian steel products. She has served as chief financial officer since 2018.
An external search is underway for her successor.
