Blastr Green Steel Seeks Pellet Plant Power Supply
03/15/2023 - European steel startup Blastr Green Steel has opened discussion with power suppliers on a long-term hydropower-based, power agreement, the company has said.
Blastr is seeking the contract to supply a pellet plant capable of producing pellets of sufficient quality for a direct reduction plant. The company is looking to build the pellet plant in Gildeskål, Norway.
“Our planned pellet plant in Gildeskål will supply Blastr’s production of low-carbon steel in Finland as well as a significant and growing world market for direct reduction pellets. Therefore, this project will be an important contributor to decarbonizing global steel production,” said Blastr Green Steel chief executive Hans Fredrik Wittusen.
A final investment decision is expected in 2025.
