Blastr Green Steel Partners for Sustainable Power Network
02/27/2025 - Blastr Green Steel has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aurora Infrastructure for a build, own and operate (BOO) agreement to develop the electricity distribution facilities for its planned steel plant in Inkoo, Finland.
According to a press release, Aurora Infrastructure will handle the design, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of the project, allowing Blastr to focus on its core business while reducing capital investment.
The companies said this partnership will further develop Blastr’s low-carbon mine-to-gate steel value chain, which uses hydrogen for iron production and feedstock made with carbon-free energy. They estimate this will cut CO2 emissions by 90%.
“The collaboration with Aurora Infrastructure is a critical step forward in realizing our vision of producing green steel at scale. Aurora Infrastructure’s deep experience in energy solutions makes them an ideal partner for this project,” said Mark Bula, chief executive officer of Blastr.
The company said production for the steel plant is planned to start by the end of 2026.
