Blastr Green Steel Enters Environmental Permitting Phase
03/19/2025 - Nordic start-up Blastr Green Steel’s planned iron and steel plant has taken a step closer to a final investment decision after receiving a reasoned conclusion on its environmental impact assessment.
According to Blastr, with the reasoned conclusion in hand, the project will move to the permitting stage.
“The reasoned conclusion provides a solid foundation for environmental permitting and supports the municipality of Inkoo in finalizing its ongoing zoning plans,” the company said.
Blastr is proposing to build a steelmaking facility that pairs hydrogen reduction with EAF steelmaking in Inkoo.
“This has been a significant undertaking, involving thorough and long-term preparation. I want to thank all parties involved in the process for their excellent cooperation. Over two years of work have gone into these assessments with a large team of experts, while simultaneously advancing the project through detailed technical planning,” said Antti Kaikkonen, Blastr Green Steel’s country manager in Finland.
