Blastr Green Steel and Vogten Staal Team Up to Deliver Green Steel
04/08/2025 - European steel service center Vogten Staal has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Blastr Green Steel for the annual supply of low-CO2 steel.
“We are proud to partner with one of Europe's leading steel service centres, which shares our commitment to mitigating climate change by making green steel available to a growing pool of customers,” said Mark Bula, chief executive officer of Blastr.
Blastr said the agreement will make its low-carbon steel available to more sustainability-conscious consumers and provide access to Vogten’s steel refinement capabilities including pickling of hot-rolled material.
“We are excited to join forces with Blastr in supplying ultralow-CO₂ steel to our wide range of customers and helping to create a more sustainable steel industry,” said Dennis Vogten and Jack Papen, owners and board of Vogten Staal.
Vogten said that with its investment into a second production facility, when new lines are installed its annual production capacity will be over one million metric tons, divided over three cut-to-length lines, two push-pull pickling lines, a slitting line and four shears.
This is the third offtake agreement announced by Blastr in less than four months.
