Mårten Görnerup took on his new role 1 September. He joins HYBRIT from Metsol, a steel industry technical consultancy, where he was CEO. Mårten has a background in metallurgy research. 

“Mårten Görnerup has extensive experience of both the steel sector and the world of research. He brings precisely the expertise that this initiative now needs,” said Martin Pei, HYBRIT board chairman. 

HYBRIT was formed last year to develop a blast furnace process that uses hydrogen in place of coal and coke. 

A feasibility study is underway now. Research and pilot plant trials will be carried out through 2024.
