Blaming Soft Plate Market, Essar Algoma Cuts Workforce
09/06/2016 - Canada’s Essar Steel Algoma is laying off more than six dozen employees owing to weakness in the plate markets, reports the online SooToday.com.
"Current market conditions have prompted a reduction in production levels and the company has had to adjust staffing levels accordingly," company spokeswoman Brenda Stenta told the publication.
Between 75 and 80 employees are being let go, the publication said.
