Biden Administration Focused on Negotiating CO2-Based Steel Import Restriction
05/16/2023 - The Biden Administration is continuing to work toward an arrangement with the European Union that would penalize imports of CO2-intensive steel, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told steel industry players on Tuesday, according to the Reuters news service.
Speaking during an American Iron and Steel Institute event in Washington, D.C., Raimondo said the arrangement, which is being negotiated by U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, will be a “game changer” for the industry, Reuters said.
