Beta Steel Changes Name to NLMK Indiana
07/30/2010 - Beta Steel is changing its name to NLMK Indiana to reflect the company’s identity and position within the corporate structure of NLMK Group, to which it has belonged since 2008.
Beta Steel, Portage, Ind., is changing its name to NLMK Indiana, effective July 27, 2010.
The company said its new name reflects its identity and position within the corporate structure of NLMK Group, to which it has belonged since 2008.
”NLMK Indiana has built a solid reputation as a premier supplier of high quality steel products over the past 10 years and we have always been recognized as a responsible and reliable partner,” said Paul Fiore, President.
“The company’s ownership and its approach to operational excellence have not changed. We will continue growing the company as we finalize the integration into NLMK Group, which has already resulted in improved access to capital and better coordination of our operations with other NLMK assets,” added Fiore. “Combined, this creates more opportunities for us to strengthen our market position and customer service”.
Located in Portage, Ind., NLMK Indiana (formerly Beta Steel Corp) operates a 700,000 tpa electric arc furnace meltshop that produces continuously cast steel slabs, as well as a 1.1 million tpa hot strip rolling mill for processing slabs into flat-rolled steel products. In October 2008, 100% stake in the company was acquired by Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) for USD 350 million.
