Berry Metal Marks Milestone Anniversary

Formally incorporated in 1951, the company’s origin dates even further back to the year 1918, when father and son team William and Walter Berry patented “Berry Metal,” a tin-free bearing bronze alloy.

Walter Berry went on to establish Berry Metal Co. in Harmony, Pa., USA, in 1951 and began designing and supplying furnace equipment using his patented alloy. Over the next 70 years, the company would develop more than 50 patents related to iron- and steelmaking technology and evolve from a behind-the-scenes OEM supplier to a technology innovator in the electric arc furnace (EAF) market.

Today, Berry Metal Co. is recognized as a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced furnace solutions for blast furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces and EAFs, with some of the largest EAF mills in the U.S. adopting its technology.

The company has also expanded its presence around the world, with offices in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
