BENTELER Optimizes Hot Rolling Mill
09/10/2020 - The Austrian steel producer has invested 5 million Euros in the optimization of the hot rolling mill at its Schloss Neuhaus site.
At this location the Steel/Tube Division produces high-quality seamless hot-rolled tubes. Following a successful restart, final acceptance of the plant took place in August.
"As part of the modernization, we have extended the push bench — the core of the hot rolling mill — and fitted it with new drives. This has enabled us to achieve a significant increase in efficiency: the average shift output has been increased by 5%. We are also improving the energy efficiency of the plant and reducing our maintenance costs. And the environment benefits, as well," said Thomas Michels, head of the Schloss Neuhaus and Paderborn plant.
The modernization was carried out during the 2019–2020 winter shutdown in order to minimize disruption to ongoing production.
