Bayou Steel Selects Pittsburgh Logistics to Manage Facility Transportation
10/07/2004 - Pittsburgh Logistics Systems, Inc. (PLS) has been selected by Bayou Steel Corp. to manage outbound transportation for its Leetsdale, Pa., distribution center.
Pittsburgh Logistics Systems, Inc. (PLS) has been selected by Bayou Steel Corp. to manage outbound transportation for its Leetsdale, Pa., distribution center.
Under terms of the agreement, PLS will administer the transportation program for the Leetsdale facility, including shipment planning, shipment management, dispatch and delivery scheduling.
In making the announcement, Robert J. Dunn, President of PLS, stated, “Bayou Steel represents our first opportunity to apply our third party logistics services to a steel mini-mill. We are extremely excited to be presented with the opportunity to help Bayou Steel reduce costs and improve customer service at its Leetsdale, Pa., distribution center. We are confident that our performance will lead to additional opportunities at other Bayou Steel facilities.”
