Bayou Steel Plans Closure, Files for Chapter 11
10/02/2019 - Bayou Steel has declared bankruptcy and intends to permanently close its Louisiana and Tennessee mills by the end of November, reports Bloomberg News.
According to Bloomberg, workers at the LaPlace, La., and Harriman, Tenn., locations received layoff notices on 30 September. On 1 October, the long products manufacturer formally filed for Chapter 11 protection.
The mill closures will affect more than 475 workers.
