Baotou I&S (Group) Co. Ltd., P.R. China, recently processed the first coil on its new Danieli temper mill in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia.

The mill reached its maximum rolling speed of 1000 meters/minute and high 1000 tonne separating force just days after the first coil. The mill produced good surface quality and metallurgical effects, thanks to accurate strip tension control.

The new 0.8 million tonne/year temper mill produces 0.25- to 3.0-mm thick strip that is 960- to 1600-mm wide in a range of steel grades. The final CQ, DQ, DDQ and HSLA steel quality are guaranteed by the mill’s wet rolling system and a downstream electrostatic oiler. They assure the cleanliness and surface conditions necessary for construction and household appliance applications, and later on for the automotive industry.
