Baosteel to Supply Third Set of Slag Treatment Equipment to Posco
08/10/2011 - Baosteel Engineering & Technology recently signed a contract to supply a third set of Rotary Drum Slag Treatment (BSSF) equipment to be installed in Posco’s Gwangyang Heavy Plate Mill.
Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group Co., Ltd. recently signed a contract with South Korea's Chaoen Development Co., to supply a third set of Rotary Drum Slag Treatment (BSSF) equipment to be installed in Posco’s Gwangyang Heavy Plate Mill.
Baosteel committed itself to the R&D of steelmaking BSSF technologies beginning in the 1990s, and has now successfully developed the fourth generation of BSSF equipment. Baosteel Engineering cooperated with South Korea's Chaoen Development Co. two years ago when the company was awarded a contract to export two sets of generation-4 BSSF equipment to Posco's No. 2 Steelworks. During execution of the project, the project team coordinated efficiently for equipment design, manufacture, delivery, on-site installation and commissioning. The two sets of BSSF equipment are now in stable operation and have achieved the requirements for various international standards, enabling Posco to realize clean and efficient slag treatment.
The length of commercial negotiation for the third set of BSSF device was shortened greatly based on the favorable cooperation achieved with the previous two sets of equipment. After the contract was signed, the Engineering Technology Business Unit of Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group assigned the project team to execute the project.
