Baosteel Puts Fourth Can Line into Production
06/01/2009 - Baosteel Group starts up Foshan Tin-Making Corporation, the Group’s fourth domestic seamless tin facility.
Baosteel Group recently started up Foshan Tin-Making Corporation, the Group’s fourth domestic seamless tin can-making facility.
Established at the end of 2006, Baosteel Foshan Tin-Making Corporation represents a total project investment of 375 million RMB. Equipped with top international equipment, the facilities feature new techniques such as color printing with 8 colors, advanced systems to collect and analyze production information, and highly sensitive and efficient online product inspection systems to help ensure product quality. The facilities can also provide packing assorting services for well-known brands such as Coca Cola and Pepsi, etc.
Mr. Dai Zhihao, Deputy General Manager of Baosteel Group Corporation noted that Baosteel Foshan Tin-Making Corporation was Baosteel’s first strategic extension into machining products in South China. Located in the middle part of Pearl River delta economy district, the new facility establishes a manufacturing and sales network for seamless tin cans, complementing Baosteel’s existing tin-making facilities—Shanghai Baoyi tin-making, Baosteel Hebei tin-making, and Baosteel Chengdu tin-making. Zhihao said the new facility will help Baosteel to provide good service to the South China market, including the rapidly developing Pearl River delta region.
The Group’s celebration of the new facility’s startup was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Xiao Zhiheng, member of the standing committee and vice-governor of Guangdong province, and Xu Lejiang, board chairman of Baosteel Group Corp., who pressed the production button together to put the new facility into production. Some of the other distinguished guests included Li Miaojuan, the director of Guangdong province development and reforming committee and the secretary of party committee; Lin Yuanhe, secretary of Foshan municipal committee; and Dai Zhihao, the deputy general manager of Baosteel Group Corporation.
