Baosteel Listed in CSR Report Honor Roll

At the recent "Responsible Communication Creates Value—the 2nd International Conference on CSR Reporting in China," Baosteel Group Corp.'s CSR report 2008 was listed in the 2009 GoldenBee CSR Report Honor Roll.

The Development Center for Chinese CSR of China WTO Tribune is a professional institution engaged in the research, publicity and promotion, consultation, and training on corporate social responsibility and being a corporate citizen. The honor roll is based on the GoldenBee CSR Reporting Assessment System, which aims to analyze and assess CSR reports in terms of five aspects: basic information, economic responsibility, environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and reporting principles. The honor roll is said to provide “a grand showcasing platform” for outstanding reports, offering helpful advice to companies to write CSR reports.

Baosteel says that it always places CSR in an important position for corporate strategies, actively implements the state's polices for the steel industry, surveys the relationship between CSR and long-term corporate development, and strives to realize the synchronized development among employees, enterprise, and society.

Last year, Baosteel says that it systematically constructed a CSR system, based on a review and summary of many years' practices and experience for fulfilling CSR. The company explained that it formulated a management system with classified management as the main approach and hierarchical management as the auxiliary approach, in accordance with the philosophy of "incorporating CSR into corporate daily operations." As a result, the company claims that it has achieved major progress in the areas of environment, society, and economy.
