Avon Engineering Limited of Waterdown, Ont., Canada, has been selected to design and build a new coil packaging system for Central Plains Steel Co. in Kansas City, Kan. Central Plains Steel Co. is a subsidiary of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co.

As a semi-automatic system, the coil packaging line will complement Central Plains Steel’s existing slitting operations in Kansas City.

“We are extremely excited to be given this opportunity to work with Central Plains Steel Co.,” comments Avon’s U.S. Sales Manager, Robert Nanovsky. “They have a tremendous operation in Kansas City and we are very proud that our equipment will be a part of their coil processing.”

Completion and start-up of the new packaging line is scheduled to commence October/November 2004.
