Auto Parts Maker Orders 25-MN Forging Press
07/22/2016 - SMS group said it has won an order for a closed-die forging press from Turkey’s PARSAN Makina Parçaları Sanayii A.Ş., a key forged-parts supplier to the European automotive industry.
According to SMS, the 25-meganewton AMP 2500 press is bound for a new plant in the town of Dilovası. The plant will be one of Europe’s largest facilities for engine, drivetrain and large forging parts. Specifically, the plant will produce pistons and flanged hubs weighing up to 4 kg in up to five forming operations, SMS said.
The press will be capable of forging up to five million parts per year.
SMS said the fully automated press will be equipped with an automatic, electrically driven walking beam; a mechanically coupled and retractable die-spraying system; programmable ejectors; and a die holder with a quick die-change system.
