Australian Long Products Maker Sets Sights on U.S. Wire Rod Assets
11/17/2022 - Australian long products manufacturer InfraBuild intends to acquire the U.S. wire rod arm of its parent company, GFG Alliance.
In announcing its first quarter fiscal 2023 results, InfraBuild said it will raise financing to acquire Keystone Consolidated Industries, Johnstown Wire Technologies and GFG’s wire rod mill in Georgetown, S.C.
The acquisition would build on InfraBuild’s integration of recycling facilities in La Place, La., and Tampa, Fla. Those facilities were previously acquired by GFG Alliance.
“With our intended acquisitions in the U.S. wire and bar market we will be building on our core competencies, expanding our existing U.S. operations, diversifying our revenue streams and gaining exposure to the growing U.S. infrastructure market,” said InfraBuild interim chief executive Dak Patel.
“These acquisitions are the right long-term fit for InfraBuild and would combine two businesses with a shared mission for sustainable steel production and strong market positions in the Australia and the USA."
