Auditors Confirm Compliance for NLMK’s Quality Management System

Novolipetsk Steel has passed the recertification audit conducted by the independent German certifying agency TÜV SÜD.

In 2004, NLMK became the first Russian steelmaking company to be granted the Quality Management System Certificate of Compliance with the requirements of international standard ISO/TS 16949.

Passing the audit confirms NLMK’s compliance with international standard ISO 16949:2009 Quality Management Systems, particular requirements for the application of ISO 9001:2008 for automotive production and relevant service part organizations. Compliance with ISO/TS 16949 requirements enables the manufacturer to supply to the global automotive industry (IATF).

Initially certified in 2004, NLMK subsequently passed a recertification audit in 2007 that expanded the certificate’s scope to include steelmaking operations. The certificate currently covers the production of slabs, hot-rolled and cold-rolled flats of carbon and low-alloy steel in coils and sheets, including galvanized products for the automotive industry.

For the current audit, TÜV SÜD experts checked all of NLMK’s Quality Management System (QMS) processes including the company’s application and execution of regulatory acts as well as all production and service operations related to the manufacture of flats for the automotive industry.

Following the inspection, TÜV SÜD confirmed the full compliance of the company’s technical and organizational processes, as well as all QMS processes with ISO/TS 16949:2009.
