ATI Makes 'Last, Best And Final' Offer To Union

The previous deal expired 30 June 2015. The proposal includes a $300 increase in lump sum payments over the previous offer, taking them to $4,500. The proposal also asks workers to contribute $125 per month to their health insurance premiums for family coverage. The contribution would increase to $215 per month in the in the final year of the four-year contract, the Post-Gazette reported.

ATI Executive Vice President Bob Wetherbee said in a statement that the proposal would help the company "manage rising costs against lower prices for our products, while at the same time continue to provide great jobs to current and future employees.”

“Our final proposal is a fair and competitive solution,” Wetherbee said in the statement.

However, the Steelworkers union contends ATI is negotiating in bad faith, saying that the proposal reflects the company’s intention to dictate a labor agreement rather than negotiate one, according to the Post-Gazette.

“Reaching a sensible solution remains our objective here. This can only be accomplished with good-faith efforts by both sides at the bargaining table,” said Tom Conway, USW international vice president, in a statement.
