ATI Allegheny Ludlum to Increase Stainless Steel Prices

March 5, 2004 — Allegheny Technologies Inc. announced that ATI Allegheny Ludlum is increasing prices on hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel sheet, strip, Precision Rolled Strip® and continuous-mill plate products.

The company said that prices are being increased by 3% effective with shipments beginning March 8, 2004. Beginning with shipments on March 29, 2004, prices will be increased by an additional 3%.

The existing raw materials surcharge remains in effect.

The company said that these increases are necessary to offset the rapid rise in raw materials, energy, transportation, health care and other costs.


Allegheny Ludlum is a world leader in the production and marketing of sheet, plate, and strip specialty materials including stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, titanium, and titanium-based alloys. The company also produces grain-oriented silicon electrical steel products and tool steel plate.
