ATI, Steelworkers To Return To Bargaining Table
09/01/2015 - Specialty steelmaker Allegheny Technologies Inc. is set to resume contract negotiations with the United Steelworkers union after having locked out workers last month, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper.
The newspaper said the bargaining session has been scheduled for 11 September 2015.
“We have repeatedly offered to meet with the United Steelworkers and believe this is a positive step forward,” ATI spokesman Dan Greenfield told the newspaper.
The company locked out about 2,200 Steelworkers after the union let lapse a company-imposed deadline for action on what it said was its “last, best and final offer.” The company has said it is continuing to operate with non-union employees and replacement workers.
The company’s contract with the Steelworkers expired 30 June 2015.
