ArcelorMittal Weirton to Host Community Recycling Day and Waste Round-Up

“We have hosted this annual community recycling event for several years and have had terrific participation from our neighbors. ArcelorMittal is a major recycler, and steel is the most recycled material in the world. With this event, we are able to extend our commitment to sustainability and help the local community safely and sustainably manage common recyclables — metal cans, plastic, glass, paper — and other items like e-waste and tires,” said Matt Caprarese, division manager, environmental and utilities, ArcelorMittal Weirton.

According to the Steel Recycling Institute, in the past 50 years, more than 50% of the steel produced in this country has been recycled through the steelmaking process.

Last year, ArcelorMittal Weirton and its partners helped nearly 300 residents safely and responsibly recycle tires, e-waste, paper, plastic, glass and metal cans at this annual community event.
