ArcelorMittal Wades Deeper Into Solar Market
01/05/2018 - ArcelorMittal is acquiring the assets of a bankrupt manufacturer of solar farm trackers, the steelmaker has announced.
In a statement, ArcleorMittal said that it will fold France-based Exosun into its projects division, which already is active in the energy and civil construction markets.
"With the acquisition of Exosun's assets, ArcelorMittal's solar energy offering is taking on a new dimension. We will provide our customers with the industrial expertise and guarantees they expect to carry out their projects and contribute even more to the energy transition,” said ArcelorMittal Projects chief executive Johannes De Schrivjer in a statement.
A solar tracker is a mechanical system that allows an array of photovoltaic panels to follow the sun as it rises and sets during the course of a day. ArcelorMittal participates in the solar energy market via its fabricated steel solar frames, which are manufactured in facilities in Europe, China and Egypt.
