ArcelorMittal USA Receives Fourth ENERGY STAR Award
04/04/2011 - ArcelorMittal USA has earned the 2011 ENERGY STAR® Award for Sustained Excellence, marking the company's fourth consecutive year of receiving the award.
ArcelorMittal USA has earned the 2011 ENERGY STAR® Award for Sustained Excellence, marking the company's fourth consecutive year of receiving the award.
The ENERGY STAR Award, given by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy, is awarded to companies that demonstrate continuous growth and accomplishments of an energy management program and commitment to energy efficiency.
"ArcelorMittal has earned EPA's highest ENERGY STAR award - the 2011 Sustained Excellence Award," said Elizabeth Craig, Acting Director of EPA's Office of Atmospheric Programs. "ArcelorMittal's long-term leadership and commitment to energy efficiency demonstrates the types of accomplishments that we can all achieve in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our global environment. We look forward to their continued partnership and leadership."
Over the past 2 years, ArcelorMittal has achieved more than $22.7 million in ongoing annual energy savings in the U.S. through the implementation of 24 energy savings projects. The company also expanded the number of sites engaged in its energy program during 2010, with 90% of its U.S. sites now using the ArcelorMittal Energy Management System Model.
