ArcelorMittal Tube Plant in Czech Republic Increasing Capacity for Auto Industry
11/14/2013 - ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Karviná, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal Ostrava, has commissioned a new precision and calibrated pipe cutting center.
The equipment was installed in response to increasing demand for cut pipes accounting now for some 60–70% of the company’s division serving the automotive industry. The pipes will be applied as structural parts of seats.
The precision drawn and calibrated pipes are supplied by the company to major car seat manufacturers. “Our customers include Johnson Controls, USA, Thiel & Hoche, Germany, or Faurecia, France, all of which rank among the leading suppliers of components for the automotive industry,” said Stanislav Konkolski, chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Karviná. The tubes from Karviná are thus present in cars of world-wide known brands such as Ford, Volkswagen, Renault or BMW as structural parts of seats.
The modernization costs totaled at CZK 5.6 million. The annual production capacity of the new plant is about 4 million pieces of cut pipes. This will increase the total annual production capacity of the Karviná tube production plant’s automotive division to 17 million pieces. “Our company is able to meet demanding requirements of our major customers. This investment will enable us to satisfy the increasing demand for our products,” adds Stanislav Konkolski.

Most of the products are applied in machine and building industries where their lightweight and capability to convey various fluids can be best used.
