ArcelorMittal to Partner With Bamesa on Low-Carbon Projects
03/30/2023 - ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products and international service center firm Bamesa signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday to explore the reduction of scope 3 emissions and increase testing of the usage of recycled steel in low-carbon-emissions products.
Through the MoU, both companies are committing to increasing the proportion of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products’ XCarb® products used in the supply chain for coils annually from 2024 to 2030.
ArcelorMittal and Bamesa have a number of joint-venture steel service centers in Morocco, Romania and Turkey.
“It is a pleasure to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with our partner Bamesa, which will further strengthen our common approach to sustainability projects,” said Yves Koeberle, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products chief executive.
“It is through working closely with our customers that we will achieve our goal of reducing CO2 emissions within Europe by 35% by 2030, and reaching net-zero by 2050, so I would like to thank Bamesa for the leadership they have shown in developing a low-carbon emissions supply chain for the automotive sector.”
