ArcelorMittal to Cease Rolling Plate at U.S. Mill
09/19/2017 - ArcelorMittal USA said it will idle the plate rolling line at its Conshohocken, Pa., mill sometime in the next year on account of low demand and competition from unfairly traded imports.
S&P Global Platts reported that the company has notified customers that the rolling mill will be brought to a halt because of "limited demand from key manufacturers that build bridges, ships, tank cars and military equipment, coupled with the ongoing surge of unfairly traded imports of steel."
However, the mill’s finishing operations are to remain in service, Platts reported.
According to AIST data, the 110-inch reversing Steckel mill is capable of producing 450,000 tons annually.
