ArcelorMittal Taps Primetals Technologies for Supply of Two LD Converters
03/30/2022 - One of the two new LD converters (basic oxygen furnaces) will replace an existing LD converter at ArcelorMittal’s plant in Dunkirk, France, while the other new converter will be held for installation at the facility at a later time, according to Primetals Technologies.
The converter being replaced has reached the end of its lifetime.
Primetals Technologies recently installed Vaicon Stoppers in all three existing LD converters at the Dunkirk plant. The Vaicon Stoppers, which keep slag in the converter during tapping, will be reused with the new converter.
