ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks Expanding U.S. Footprint
11/22/2016 - ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks is investing US$83.5 million to open a facility in Michigan, its third in the United States, according to reports.
According to the Michigan Economic Development Corp., the new facility will be housed in a 317,000-square-foot building in a new industrial park. The facility will sit north of General Motors' Hamtramck Assembly plant, the development corporation said.
The facility will make high-strength, laser-welded blanks for automotive OEMs. ArcelorMittal’s two other tailored blanks facilities are in Pioneer, Ohio, and Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The project is being supported by a US$2 million grant from the state’s Michigan Business Development Program.
