Primetals Technologies said the new staves will incorporate a fixing system to eliminate bolt pull-out and an anti-bending solution. Its scope of supply includes five rows of staves, including refractory inserts, fixtures and fittings, as well as the engineering.
 
Installation will be performed by ArcelorMittal South Africa in the second quarter of 2022, according to Primetals Technologies.
 
ArcelorMittal South Africa’s Newcastle Works has one blast furnace with a capacity of 1.8 million metric tons per year.
