ArcelorMittal Shutters Indiana Aluminizing Line
02/26/2016 - ArcelorMittal has closed the No. 1 aluminizing line at its Indiana Harbor West plant in Indiana and is shifting production elsewhere, according to reports.
According to The Times of Northwest Indiana newspaper, the company is shifting the line’s production to its more modern AM/NS Calvert joint venture plant in Alabama. The line had a rated capacity of 271,000 tons annually, according to Association for Iron & Steel Technology records.
Approximately 60 to 80 workers had worked on the line, but have been redeployed on a galvanizing line that was restarted. That line had been idled since late 2014, the newspaper said.
