ArcelorMittal Recognized for Supply Chain Excellence by JCB
08/09/2013 - ArcelorMittal Flat Carbon Europe (FCE) has received an award for supply chain Quality, Cost, Innovation, Delivery and Management (QCIDM) from JCB — the world’s largest privately owned manufacturer of construction equipment.
The QCIDM award was presented jointly to ArcelorMittal and its steel service center partner C. Brown Steel Group.
ArcelorMittal and C. Brown Steel Group together form an important part of the steel supply chain into JCB. In presenting the honor, JCB noted that both ArcelorMittal and C. Brown Steel Group had:
· Responded to changes in lead times efficiently
· Helped JCB to reduce costs
· Invested in technology to support JCB’s business growth demands.
ArcelorMittal supplies JCB with high strength and commodity grade steels from its mill in Bremen, Germany. Typically orders have short lead times to accommodate JCB’s flexible production schedule. The steels supplied are usually laser cut which requires good profile and flatness tolerance and a scale-free surface finish. Heavy plate is also supplied to JCB from ArcelorMittal’s mill in Gijon, Spain.
JCB has ambitious plans to further grow worldwide production of its construction machinery by 2015 and has laid down the challenge to their steel partners to support this growth plan. ArcelorMittal senior management remain wholly committed to further developing and extending the relationship with JCB.
C. Brown Steel Group has also fully committed to support JCB’s service and quality requirements.
The steel service center has invested in a new laser and press brake and will install a new 20-mm precision leveler before the end of 2013 as part of this commitment.
