ArcelorMittal Recognized As Global Leader on Climate Action

In a statement, ArcelorMittal said the organization, the Carbon Disclosure Project, awarded it an A- in the 2019 CDP Climate Change assessment. That’s up from its 2017 grade, a C, it said.

The company said the 2019 grade puts it among the top 11% of companies within the steel industry and compares favorably against the global average of C, and the metal smelting, refining & forming sector average of C.

“To receive an A- from CDP is a strong validation of the work we have underway to address the risks of climate change and decarbonizing the steel industry,” said ArcelorMittal corporate responsibility general manager Alan Knight.

“With the investments we’re making in new technologies and ground-breaking innovations, we are on the road to reaching our net zero target by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement.”
