ArcelorMittal Poland to Idle Dabrowa Górnicza Blast Furnace

ArcelorMittal Poland announced plans to temporarily shut down Blast Furnace No. 3 at its plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

The company said its decision follows a thorough analysis of order intake for the coming months. The decision is also in line with the company’s policy to adapt capacity utilization to demand levels.

The company plans restart Blast Furnace No. 3 as soon as market conditions allow it. In the interim, the company will continue to operate it other two blast furnaces —one in Kraków and one in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The Kraków blast furnace had been restarted earlier this year following a repair and maintenance shutdown that had run from August 2010 to March 2011.
