03/24/2011 - ArcelorMittal Poland has restarted its Blast Furnace No. 5 at Kraków, which has been undergoing repair and maintenance since August 2010.
ArcelorMittal Poland has restarted its Blast Furnace No. 5 at Kraków, which has been undergoing repair and maintenance since August 2010.
The company started the process of tapping iron from the blast furnace at 4:30 p.m. on March 17. The symbolic switch-on ceremony began when CEO of ArcelorMittal Poland Sanjay Samaddar and BOD member/Chief Operating Officer Manfred Van Vlierberghe pressed the button at measuring and control panel while blowing-in the blast furnace.
Andrzej Uchto, Director of Kraków’s Blast Furnace Department was directly in charge of preparations for the blast furnace restart. Supervision was provided by Bogdan Mikołajczyk, Executive Director, Primary.
