ArcelorMittal Poland Aims to Reduce Environmental Footprint Through Investment
11/18/2021 - ArcelorMittal Poland’s Kraków coke plant is investing PLN 31.5 million (US$7.6 million) in a decarbonization effort.
According to a company press release, this investment and update to the plant will help reduce its environmental impact. As part of the decarbonization effort, the plant’s coke oven battery and comprehensive dedusting system will be modernized.
“Decarbonization, that is the reduction of carbon emissions in steelmaking processes, is a strategic goal for ArcelorMittal Poland, as well as for our entire group. Reducing our environmental impact in terms of dust emissions is equally important. We are investing in our Kraków coke plant because, thanks to such initiatives, we realize our obligations in terms of environmental protection,” said Sanjay Samaddar, chief executive and chairman of the board of directors at ArcelorMittal Poland.
Work is expected to begin at the end of 2021 and go until April 2022.
